Actually the Camaro is now the wifes daily driver. She loves a manual too. Because I need a big truck with square wheels or Ill lose my license quick.
But... The autos out perform the manuals now. That was never the case in the past in most ways but on the 1/4 mile autos were winning for decades.
Formula 1 went first to auto clutch. Anywhere that quick perfect shifts benefit performance the autos rule now.
In the past they were slush boxes. Slip.. power loss... heavy... sloppy shifting...
Now they are so good they have nearly made the manual obsolete.
But for pure street enjoyment of the car itself I only considered a manual.
My truck has an auto... If I was buying a Mercedes or some luxo cruzer of course it would be an auto.
Automatics were already superior on the drag strip in the early 60s with the torqueflite , the turbo 350 and turbo 400. The drag strip classes were separated for auto trans cars and manual trans cars for a reason.
