The SDM(the silver box you're referring too) is actually located underneath the center console. More than likely it is a passenger occupancy sensor. That's what it sounds like.

Around here in texas, GTR's run 11s stock. Their awd and launch systems are insane. Put a simple tune on it and down here they will run mid to low 10s. Seen it first hand.
