As far as tires I switched from Pzeros to continental dws extreme contacts.
The ride is much quieter, and all the way around much better, including the occational autocross.

Mine also made the noise in the rear end, I took the car to the local dealer and they informed me that in fact gm had noted this issue as a service bulliten .The soulution was to change the rear end...
