Isn't our gas tank sealed from the atmosphere, provided that the gas cap is properly threaded on?

If so, then there wouldn't be any ambient air getting in and thus no corrosion, right?

Any reason not to do this? It can be handy at times for testing, troubleshooting, etc.

I am hesitant because I am not sure about letting the rear suspension sag with power going to the wheels.
