Yes, needs to be looped. For some reason blocking them can cause no circulation and overheating. But never heard a good explanation of exactly why.

Never seen a procedure for applying vacuum to the reservoir only the bleed nipple. But I haven't actually looked it up for the Camaro.

My preferred method of bleeding is pressure at the reservoir...

6 weeks is a lot more than 3 weeks. It really wouldn't require any extra parasitic draw for 6 weeks to cause problems. Let 6 weeks turn into 8 weeks a couple of times and it will ruin a battery...

Batteries don't like setting and getting drained down repeatedly. It doesn't take much of this to ruin a battery. I real good battery probably wouldn't drain in 3 weeks, but it would be getting close...

Neither the cams or the lifters will be moving when disconnected. Range won’t work with aftermarket ECM. Some of the aftermarket stuff can contol the vvt, I think, but it isn’t required to use it.
