Finally test drove a Camaro SS

After waiting for almost a year (since it first went into production) to get the behind the wheel of a 5th gen SS, I finally got to do so today. I gotta say, its a bad ass ride. I loved the visceral exhaust note and acceleration. Initially I was worried about the visibility in the car, especially looking out the back. But the mirrors are big enough that I had no problems with it. The clutch is super light for a muscle car. I drive an Acura RSX Type S, and that has a very light clutch. But the SS is even lighter. Took me awhile to get used to it, especially moving the car out in first gear. But after about 5 minutes I got used to it. I drove a slightly used 1SS, so no four pack of guages and cloth seats. But I didn't mind. I just loved the way the car drove and sounded. The Brembo brakes are strong. It stops on a dime. My Acura doesn't even feel like a real car anymore now after driving the big bad SS. I may have no choice now but to get a Camaro. Man, what a car!

Having drove 2 different 2001 Preludes (basically same engine as your type-s) I agree. Waaaaay different feeling drive the SS...in a very good way! I found the clutch super easy, and the power is insane.

When I took my test drive in an SS, I just had to have it. I ordered my car the same day. I've never driven a car in which everything feels so easy!

It's worse than nicotine for addiction, I swear...If I wasn't so concerned about driving someone elses car...I'd need a bi-weekly Camaro SS fix to stay sane!

Glad you liked it!!! :D

I gotta say when I finally test drove the SS, I was severely disappointed with the exhaust note...
