So this was a huge disappointment. Dynn Jet with all my mods seems so low!!! What are you all getting with similar mods?

Ok I really don’t know where you are expecting big gains from. The automatic equipped cars usually dyno at 330-350 RWHP.You should have a small increase in hp from the headers and tune maybe 20-40hp.and that’s kinda what you are getting.
Everything else is going to make it quicker and more fun to drive but will have zero affects on hp.

I'm not that familiar with automatics but that torque curve is falling off more than I would expect. Did your tuner have other files to compare against?

Aren't the biggest mods you have the LTs and CAI? Granted if its an L99 I would have expected a bit more than that but not greatly more. I think a lot are saying 370-375 with LTHs and a tune.

Hmm maybe I am reading way to many posts on the internet lol . Unfortunately the tuner is so busy I'm sure he threw it on tuned it and yelled NEXT. Plus there building is locked down because of covid .

Agreed 100%. The L99 starts at 400hp crank and considering ~15% driveline loss, that puts him at 340RWHP. LT's, a tune and a CAI are not going to gain much. I'd say those numbers are solid for what you have, OP.:happy0180:

what would you expect with only bolt ons? plus do you really car about dyno numbers? all they are is a guide line to see if you are getting any gains from adding any mods....and that is mostly only true if every time you dyno, you are using the same dyno in the same conditions.

Those numbers seem to be on par for an auto with long tubes and a CAI. Time for heads and cam... :smiling1:

My 2013 2ss/rs L99 dyno tested at around the 330 to 350 hp. What would one have to do to realize a larger gain in HP? A cam for example? I do also own the 1987 Grand National. Performance gains are easy for this car. A chip, K&N filter, gutted cat, and a stiffer valve spring gets about 175 rwh and dropped the 1/4 mile time from the stock 14.5 to 13.2. I believe the last 2 times for my stock Camaro were also 13.2. It is interesting what a stock factory turbo to do to a 3.8L V-6. So now I wonder what simple and not too expensive mods could be made to move the Camaro into the 12s?

I'm more concerned about your torque drop off.

Boosted engines make big power with very simple mods, so your GN doesn't surprise me. For example, an SS may gain 6-8hp from an intake, but a ZL1 can gain 25+hp.

As far as getting your stock SS from a 13.2 to a 12.9...LT headers (obviously w/ a tune), intake and an X-pipe should do the trick. If you really want to get it done, add a cam in there. My SS (LS3) put down 455hp w/ BBK shorties, JBA HF cats, FM axleback, K&N intake, Lunati cam and a tune.

I got mine into mid 12's with gears, cai, trailing arms, 3" cat back, launch practice, and a tune.

TheFlyingBananaSS 08-29-2020 01:00 PM

But mines a factory freak. It's beating stock 5.0 coyotes, even with a passenger. I also drive it like I stole it from day 1 and never had a single issue except rear brake light.

and that is all that matters...the dyno is just a tool....what matters is what is does going from a to b if you are adding hp.
