NCM Adds Corvette Racing Simulator
I just came across this and I'll definitely spend a little time in this before track day especially since it's only about $10 per session.:w00t:

Just FYI if the impression is there, the track they are running in that video is not NCM Motorsports park. It puts me in mind of Red Bull Ring short track though.

That looks like big fun!

That looks like a lot of fun and that is the short track of the Red Bull ring and not NCM. It’s a good way to get a feel of what’s going on but the real fun is on the track. I do a lot of simulator racing and they are using a game called Assetto Corsa. But for $10 I’ll do a few sessions and break the top times lol.

I saw that on Facebook. Pretty cool. I agree though, the real fun is definitely on the track.

Now that's a great training tool

Gonna definitely try this out while we're down there

I assume they're just running Assetto Corsa. There are tons of tracks and add-on cars available.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/244210/Assetto_Corsa/ I run it with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z0UWV98 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Z0UWV3O (Don't even think about running it with a keyboard. It's more of a realistic simulator than a game.) It's fairly straightforward to create new tracks if the CAD drawings are available. Most of the US tracks are developed by individuals and have to be installed as add-ons. I haven't been able to locate the NCM track, but I'm betting we'll see the NCM track in the near future since they have this setup now. |

I did a version of NCM Motorsports park in GT6 Course maker. Doesn't have the elevation changes but the layout is as close as I could get it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spLex_w58mY I ran GT5 & 6 from this rig. It's been rearranged since this pic was taken. |
Well isn't that fancy!! :D

I'll do it anyway. This one runs in the 10s of thousands of dollars. |

If you're really into track days, you can put a sim in your house and learn a track before you go there. Unfortunately last I checked NCM was not available. I've used for Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Limerock, VIR and Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park).
This is the sim I have in my basement running Project Cars and I-Racing. Includes tactile transducers (ButtKickers) on all four corners and a force feedback wheel. If you run over the rumble strips , ABS actuates or crash you feel it. A high speed crash can actually kinda hurt. |
