Is it the 427 car? :thumb:

69supersport396 11-30-2016 09:10 AM

As of yesterday, it was in Ohio and is heading west today. There will be some pick ups and drop offs as he heads to AZ. They originally said it would be here on or before 12/10, and I was told it will definitely be here next week well before 12/10.

It originally had a 396 installed at the factory. Although I have some investigation to do, it appears this car has a racing history somewhere in California. The original 396 was replaced with a solid lifter 427, which it has now. Haven't done valve adjustments in years, but it's easy.

Hope you and yours are safe Jan!

Mr Twisty 11-30-2016 11:02 AM

C'mon L88!

... it's possible.

Also possible it's still the numbers matching 396 with L88 cam, and rebadged. That would also be sweet! Would also explain the rear gears.

69supersport396 11-30-2016 02:14 PM

I'm not sure I'm willing to live with those 4.10 gears, but I'll give them a try.

It will be interesting to see what code is stamped on the rear housing as to what gears were in their originally. If he code is for 4.10's, might as well just leave them in there. The speedometer is accurate, so the correct speedo gear is in the transmission.

69supersport396 11-30-2016 02:23 PM

As of today, there are no weather issues between Ohio and AZ.

Has a slightly modified 427, turbo 400 trans, 12 bolt rear with 4:10 gears, and working AC. Pics are on my phone, but I only took two. I was pretty excited!

70rsz28 12-05-2016 07:27 PM

Thanks guys. Here are a few pics i've taken so far. Most of my free time has been spent making it mine. I started with detailing the trunk.

This is the truck that delivered my car. The other pics are of the other cars in the trailer. The Bentley Continental GTO was probably the most expensive. My Caprice was probably the least valuable.

Rick what do you do drill holes in the trunk lid for safety air in let. LOL
Got the good old spring loaded license plate holder hiding the gas filler.
That Blue Mustang w/the white stripes is just like my one and only Mustang I ever had. 67 2+2 Fast back 289 w/the 271 High Performance V-8 4 speed. Was a great car back then for a 19 year old.

RubyCamaro 12-06-2016 08:00 PM

Very cool Rick!

SkipNWis 12-06-2016 11:55 PM

<<< Will have to stop over and see it Rick, I'll be in AZ January and Feb still can'tt decide if I'm driving the Camaro :( < :) So hate to have to by another set of all season tires. The summer run flats aren't real good in cold weather. It's all ready in the Teens here... I got 3 states to get through before the cold is behind me.....

69supersport396 12-07-2016 09:56 AM

Thanks everyone.

I'm removing as many emblems as i can get to for a paint correction. Right now, the front fender flags and, for another reason, the front bumper is off.

Bryan and I took a short ride last night. This thing is a beast! :burnrubber:

Come on over Skip!

Great pictures Rick. My wife was in the Phoenix area last week attending a conference for work. She really liked the area it's definitely on our list as a potential retirement home. Hopefully only 6 more years left in the cold and snowy winters here.

Hope everyone is having a great wknd .

We went to get our outside tree that we put near our deck . The tree started out at 26 ft There was no branches till 4ft up so that is where I decided tocut it . So now we are at 22 ft . I start to drag it out while I am waiting for the tractor , I broke a couple branches in the snow . I cut 3 ft off and we are at 19 ft .I usually bring our small car mostly for visual effects .lol I still think I should have brought the car . I need the abominable to put the lights on ha ha .

69supersport396 12-14-2016 10:02 AM

Hi everyone.

Still plugging away on the Caprice. A little here, a little there, it all adds up.

The weather is looking iffy here this coming weekend, so I may not be going to any cruises. But we'll see.

Time to quit shoveling snow and move South!

69supersport396 12-16-2016 02:34 PM

Happy Friday gang!

Cloudy here today. It rained this morning, and it will rain again this evening, then our temps will drop. Tomorrow's high may not reach 60! BRRRRR.

But it will warm up after tomorrow.

RubyCamaro 12-16-2016 07:46 PM

I just don't know how you northerners deal with it. It is in swing mode here. Bitter cold one day, warm & stormy the next, repeat. That is no fun either but the bitter cold all the time for so long & all that frozen precip? NOT!

I am still not in the mood for holidays. Having to push myself to do just the bare minimum. Bah Humbug.

Throw another log on the fire.

zandron263 12-17-2016 07:50 AM

After living through 50+ years of cold and snow you just get used to it. Although the older i get the tougher it gets to deal with it. Hopefully i have 7 more winters to get through till retirement and then i will move somewhere where it does not snow.

ragzl1 12-17-2016 10:28 AM

Richard --- That is one dandy Christmas Tree. Can you post a pic of it finished?? Would love to see it. We all can blame you for sending us the cold air.

Rick --- The car is looking great!!!!!

Trick --- Don't rub it in, those temps look really nice.

Jan --- We get that cold stuff in Illinois about a day before you get it.

Zandron --- I'm with you. Need to get to a no snow zone as soon as possible. At least in the winter months.
