Who has deposit down for the Corvette Stingray?

I'll be hitting up my favorite local dealer this weekend to discuss getting on the deposit list.

Let's start a list of people with deposits already. Hopefully I'll be adding my name to the list in a few days :)

Vette TPI 01-23-2013 10:10 PM

Pretty sure no one is currently, some may have a deposit holding :first: etc. to get in and order the first stingray to their dealer.

DallasMike 01-24-2013 12:02 AM

I have a deposit at two different dealers. I'm hoping to get delivery in time to take her to SEMA. I'm seriously giddy over this purchase!

The_Blur 01-24-2013 06:07 AM

Ensure that you get in writing that they aren't charging over MSRP.

Stingray 01-24-2013 06:11 AM

Precisely.

At a minimum, I'd want in writing and endorsed by a Sales Mgr:
1. MSRP or lower
2. Refundable deposit
3. No dealer added or padded options, accessories, fees, or other extras w/o my wriiten consent

INDY SS 01-24-2013 10:31 PM

Man, how fun would that be to be on a list. Knowing you would be one of the first to enjoy this much new technology.

Just saying if you need someone to take to SEMA in your new C7 I am completely okay volunteering.

My plans are the same, how much usualy does a deposite need to be?

My initial plans were to give a 25% Down Payment and finance the rest? So would that 25% be enough for a deposite, or would that be counter wise being to much?

I put down $1000 for the deposit. The down payment is an entirely different story.:stingray:

Stingray 01-25-2013 04:25 PM

Yup usually 1K just to reserve a spot...

The higher your d/p, the lower your monthly payments on a simple interest loan and better chance for credit approval but it still depends on your credit worthiness, APR, etc...

Going the dealership tomorrow (1/28) to drop a refundable $1000 for the "privilege" of waiting for an allocation. This dealership is one of top 10 Corvette sellers in the country (around 150-200 per year). Therefore, I am pretty confident that I'll see my car before the snow flies.

Some of my tax refund will go to a d/p... workin' on this soon in Feb.

Falundir 01-28-2013 09:24 AM

I made a deposit with Boardwalk Chevrolet for $1,000 and got it in writing that it will be MSRP, and had all fees pre-disclosed to avoid any hidden charges.

Currently #17 on the list

That's awesome congrats. More and more members here getting on lists it seems. Did they say when they might be able to fill your #17 allocation?

I still gotta find a time to get down to dealer to plunk down a deposit. Hope I don't get too low of a spot.

They said they expect 15 a month and since people will cancel I have a good chance of getting in on the first month.

Either the same combo or the Ashen Grey with black wheels. Leaning towards the grey but would love to see the blue in person.

Dealer Mark Up

Curious to see what kind of mark up we're going to see on the new Stingray. My guess is that the first several hundred are going to cost 25-30% more than those that come after. Supply and demand rules ... whether it's a Vette or a bag of corn.

Those dealers mimic your username since it captures what you just stated re: 25-30% more... and it's also synonymous with :idiot:

Joking aside, there are reputable dealers who won't add above the sticker or pad up for market adjustments, etc... e.g. Becky @ Rodgers :thumb:

I called Les Stanford Chevrolet (Metro-Detroit) and Coughlin Chevrolet (N/E Ohio) and had a long conversation with each. I have submitted a $1000 allocation deposit with one of them. Each of these facilities are in the top 3-5 Corvette selling dealerships in the country; 200+ units a year. Both Stanford and Coughlin guarantee that they will not sell a 2014 over MSRP, and that's in writing.
