Under the Hood Paint finish question.
I have an early built 2010 in black.
There is basically no clear on the strut towers and lower areas don't even have black base coat. I've noticed a lot of the cars here have clear on the strut towers. Did GM improve there paint process later on or was my car painted on a Monday? :bonk: Anyone with the problems I explained, were you able to do anything at all to improve the appearances? I have waxed all surfaces with Collinite 845, but would love a better look... Thanks! Brian |
Mine is a 2011, built July 2010 and all the areas you mentioned on mine are not finished as well. Not sure why they didn't. Don't think anyone in the past posts about it came up with any explaination.

My early build 2010 RJT was the same way. It was the norm back then and IIRC there were some threads about it.

Thanks for the info guys.
Not much I can do about it except gut it for paint. Maybe next year, budget for this year is already blown on go fast goodies ;) |
My 2015, same dull finish under the hood on the shock towers.

I'll take some pics later but my 2015 has clear coated strut towers. I actually wax them. At least the tops of them are. All the stuff below about intake manifold level is under painted and no clear coat.

Myb2010 IO was dull. My 2013 is cleared.

My 2012 is cleared.

Early production 2011, same thing. .Painfully dull paint, no clear, and it drives me nuts.https://i.imgur.com/8LTN9HI.jpg
