Just curious, with the all aluminum frame are there any issues relating impact and bending (crash test) that could render the frame useless after such an event?
Also, will the insurance companies look at this as an added cost to repair and gouge us on premiums?

I doubt it... Aluminum is the "new thing" in the car industry, so insurance premiums would be going up for a lot of new cars.

Great question - wouldn't think so. Since GM claims the aluminum frame is stiffer than the steel one, shouldn't be a significant difference. Wreck it hard enough to bend either one, the car will probably be declared a loss and written off as totaled. As far as your insurance company is concerned, a total is a total. Sell if off for parts or scrap.

I believe it was in the Motor Trend video, or one of the many interview videos. I haven't seen it in print yet.

Maybe some super light forged aftermarket wheels can shave even more weight, especially unsprung weight.

Well according to Tadge in an interview he did say that the new aluminum frame is lighter then the C6 frame, but over all weight is higher on the C7 then the C6. That is caused by a lot of extra electronics and other added features.

The DoD added weight as well as the interior with higher class materials adds weight. The engine block always weighs more than the outgoing LS3.
