Roto-Fab CAI for 2016 Camaro SS Sneak Peak!
 
We’ve received many questions about the progress of our 2016 Camaro SS cold air intake system. Our first air box prototypes were aluminum construction similar to our 5th Gen Camaro system. However, OEM plumbing in the lower air box area made it impossible for us seal off the lower area from hot engine bay air. Therefore, we elected to design a polymer air box which actually engages the stock air intake duct and is otherwise fully enclosed when the hood is shut. And yes, it does effectively seal to the hood. As you can see, our air box inlet is substantially larger than the stock inlet. Rather than butt up and reduce in size, the Roto-fab air box engages the stock rubber inlet on the car and actually forces it open to create a larger cross section for increased air flow. Like our other intake systems, no tuning is required and no modifying your vehicle or its components is necessary.
The attached photographs show the air box as made from the actual tooling which will be used for production along with the actual filter we plan to use. However, the duct work is for illustrative purposes only. That being said, the final version will be very similar in appearance. We will keep you guys updated on the progress as we move farther along!!

Awesome setup, looks great! Loved the Roto-fab on my G8. Jealous you don't make any for the Mustang.

Very nice! Looks OEM in design too; similar to the stock Z/28 intake. So far this is my favorite of the aftermarket gen6 SS intakes announced.

Glad to hear it! We are working around the clock to get it finished and sent out for testing. We are also working on a short informational/install video which we are hoping to have uploaded by the first of next week.

Is this design the output of actually measuring pressure differentials along the factory intake path and finding actual restrictions? Everyone is quick to get to their dyno results but so far not one company has offered anything that constitutes a measured restriction on the car under actual engine operation. Flow benches aren't needed. A simple differential pressure meter will locate areas of significant restrictions.

Hopefully someone will eventually separate unintended spark/fuel changes from actual legitimate mass air flow improvements when they put up their dyno numbers. Right now I would say no one has shown the stock intake on a stock engine to be a problem that needs a solution.

That data has already been posted by one of the vendors or a tuner, it showed the stock intake to be a restriction. I don't recall who posted it, but I know it's on this board somewhere.

Even if vendors are measuring this specific data you request, which I know some are, they aren't going to share it with their competitors by posting it online as it's proprietary R&D data. It is no secret that stock intakes and paper panel air filters pose a restriction vs. a freer-flowing aftermarket system with a larger, and less restrictive, air filter. Are the gains going to be massive or magical? No, but the C7 guys are typically finding ~10whp to be accurate in independent testing (plus keep in mind the C7 already has a larger stock air filter than the gen6 SS does).
