Powerball

Powerball is up to $420 million.. Friends at work were talking today about how they would spend it. What kind of car would you buy first?
I would get a 2016 challenger hellcat and a Z06 vette

flyer08 01-04-2016 04:43 PM

Fly back to where i lived before i moved here. St Pete had a dealership selling all the exotics

PalmerGA 01-04-2016 04:44 PM

Trade my '13 SS for a fully loaded 2016 2SS vert. Then I'd trade my '10 Dodge Ram for a new Dodge 3500 dually diesel and a beautiful 5th wheel. Then I would get my gal, her daughter, and her grand-daughter the vehicles of there choice (within reason). Next I would add two more stalls onto my current garage, take a deep breath and ponder what to do with the rest of it.

Money for all my immediate family would take a big chunk of the rest.

mhoskins76 01-04-2016 04:48 PM

If I won $420 MILLION, yeah first dealership I would go to is Lamborghini and order an Aventador. Then a Z06, and a new truck, and a huge house with at least a 4 car garage.

jshaf 01-04-2016 05:04 PM

buy a house with a multi car garage, then several cars to fit in it, one luxury SUV and several muscle cars, would still keep my current SS, it's a keeper thou could treat it to a bunch of upgrades :)

MLAZ1990 01-04-2016 05:07 PM

I would RUN to the nearest Chevy dealership and buy a 2016 Z06 immediately!!! Then a house or whatever...

xrivera91 01-04-2016 05:08 PM

After I buy a house (no more than 1 million) i would keep myself on a strict 1 million dollar a year spending budget and give my son whatever is left when I die to do the same with.

CCMADONNA 01-04-2016 05:10 PM

An Aston Martin Vanquish Volante for me and a Ford GT for my husband.

:word:

91Zman 01-04-2016 05:11 PM

I think quite possibly that my car garage would be bigger than my house... LOL

Muscle Car Lover 01-04-2016 05:14 PM

I bought 20 quick picks for the last draw and got...... 2 numbers matching total. Total letdown.

S-eatin-grin 01-04-2016 05:15 PM

Top of the line Jag F - Pace for the wife, then mod the Camaro with the finest stroker parts and supporting mods. Buy my Dad whichever car/truck he chooses at Mecum or Barrett Jackson...then house payoff, land, and trust fund for the kids

JLSuperfly 01-04-2016 05:15 PM

I'd buy a bigger house and 2-3 new rides. The rest, I will spend it on hookers.

pyroguy 01-04-2016 05:16 PM

I'd track down 1969 ZL1 Camaro #55 and 1967 L88 Corvette #20 and buy them at whatever it took. After that I'd be filling a VERY large climate garage with super rare muscle cars.

Jeff1981 01-04-2016 05:54 PM

I'd buy a house with a garage just so I could keep my Camaro in. Living in the city I don't even have enough room to install a carport... ridiculous.

scandata 01-04-2016 05:56 PM

I'd keep the car I have for now. I'll just be happy to buy a house with a garage to keep it in!

What cars do the hookers want? :smiling1:

I'd buy those before he could

SnowyCamaro 01-04-2016 07:18 PM

Keep my Zl1 and find someone who will sell their Koenigsegg one:1. Plus a 2500HD Denali and add a turbo to it. Heated garage would be cool.

Bulldog3071 01-04-2016 07:19 PM

I would buy and bunch of porn stars and head to Vegas for a week long blowout and invite a bunch of friends along

$420 Million? and you buy a Challenger and a Corvette?

On a scale if money is no option.........those cars are shit. You are on a LaFerrari, P1, Pagani, Bugatti daily driver level at that point.

RedRock 2SS/RS 01-04-2016 07:21 PM

I'd keep my 2SS, look for a ZL1 and definetely get a Z06.

With $420 million, I'd be deciding which dealerships I'm going to BUY! Not to go into business, just to own what would be the coolest life-size Hot Wheels collection in the world.

NC_SS 01-04-2016 07:33 PM

Buy a nice house with a good sized garage on a lot of property, supercharge my SS, throw 3.70 gears, new wheels with fat tires, and just build it to the nines.

This is the first car where I've personally modified anything, so I would like to hold onto it forever and keep it as a DD. Get a low miles 2013 C6 ZR1, and go find a Lamborghini Aventador.

After that I'd probably give money to some family, donate some money to charity, open a retro video game shop, and pretty much retire

13BRM2SSRS 01-04-2016 07:38 PM

I'd buy a new Z06 probably sharkfin gray saw one last month whike at the dealership and it was sweet! Also a Mercedes bla bla whatever for the wife! I'd keep my 2SS for the backseat since I have 2 kids 11 & 14. Man that would be sweet! I may actually buy a ticket

Yea personally I know playing the lottery is a waste of money, but I never play and it's a two dollar ticket I think

Why not just play the odds, yknow?

mikeinmobile 01-04-2016 07:54 PM

1977 Chevette with heat! Tan with hubcaps.

That_old_guy 01-04-2016 07:55 PM

my first car would be my daily driver, camaro ss (lots of mods.....by by warranty), then i would have to pick up my next two favorite cars corvette, and viper for sunday/nice wheather cars, and a hellcat for a family car (haha like my wife would agree to that) and a house with a garage to fit them all

motorhead 01-04-2016 07:56 PM

I would find and by my dad his Trans Am that I smashed up when I was a kid. I would by back my father -in-law's SS 396 Chevelle that he had. I would buy both of them their new car of choice. My brother would get a top of the line truck of his choice because he's never owned a new one along with whatever hot rod he wanted. I would give each of my employees a cool two million then either sell it out or close it down. All the kids schooling would be paid for. And no one in my family would have to worry about money again. I've had a lot of great cars and have been very fortunate. I would love a chance to share the wealth.

Better check with daddy first.....

292,000,000 to 1 odds.

PostNup 01-04-2016 08:19 PM

First things first, private charter flight to Vegas, set up a Charitable Remainder Trust to put all assets into (no probate so the gov doesn't gets 40% of your stuff when you pass and a Corp to put the CRT into so those assets are protected from lawsuits - in case you ever have a bad day). NV for the Corp due to no state taxes. Could also use Delaware for the same, but with all that money who wouldn't want to go to Vegas? :)

Buy the closest Chevy dealer to my house and become THE mod friendly dealer. Would sell every Camaro and Vette at cost, just to share the wealth!

New Z28 #001 when it comes out, eat your heart out Jay Leno. New big boy Corvette, and lease a few exotics, just for kicks.

Of course, that is the first week. Then take care of the family and a trip around the world.

SteelCamaro 01-04-2016 08:19 PM

Probably a Huayra or Porsche 918...and a Koenigsegg once they're legal in the US. As much as I love my Camaro and the class it's in with the other brands, exotics are a whole different ballgame, and I'd probably never look back to be honest. I would also immediately purchase a Mercedes S65 AMG and ship it off to BRABUS to have it converted into a Rocket 900.

Oh, and a Viper ACR before they stop production. It's nothing too crazy compared to some of the stuff out there, but there's just something about a car that's just a good old fashioned 8.4L all-engine beast.

15WhiteSS 01-04-2016 08:36 PM

If I won, I'd be scheduling a lot of high performance driver training. Got to be sure that I could keep a Z06, Z28, F-type, or my 2SS on the road and not bouncing off a safer barrier.

The rest of it would be needed to keep the M5 running. :(

olblue75 01-04-2016 08:42 PM

I'd move out into the country an buy enough property to build a Motorsports park with a drag strip and a 2-3 mile road course an a small auto-x in th middle with a nice paddock/pit area. Build a nice club house with tennis courts, spa and a swimming pool for the ladies and somewhere put a go cart track in for the kiddies. I'd have membership that would be set up for the common guy that can't afford 10-20k a year in membership. I would hire local vets for facility up keep and track/safety workers an offer on site housing as a perk, then select a few for a high performance schooling to be onsite mechanics on the weekdays and weekends. Might even let bikes run the course if there's enough interest. I would offer on site storage in a heated/cooled warehouse with cleaning facilities. Also on the grounds there would be DIY garages with quality tools an lifts(can you say snapon). I would have a private garage that would house a Harley for each day of the week, a Z06, Z28, GT500, Hellcat, Viper, and maybe CTS-V wagon all fully modded of course, a proper GMC Denali 3/4-1 ton 4x4 truck and matching trailer fully loaded along with a matching toy hauler motorcycle trailer. Somewhere in a safe place away from the track I would build a indoor heated an cooled range and a covered outdoor range with modern automated targets for various firearm diciplines (long range rifle and skeet) maybe a quasi shooting club. A nice campground would be a option if business is good. I'm pretty sure I'd loose money for a few years but it would be a good write off for taxes on the 420 mil. But before any of that would happen I'd have to build the wife a really nice house an few really cool vehicles of her choice and I think I would quite working LOL!!!!! Be out there on a bulldozer cutting the track...

stearns.mw 01-04-2016 09:26 PM

First thing I would do is buy a 10 or more car garage or building and fill it with lots of American muscle cars

ABMLS3 01-04-2016 10:04 PM

Bring my car to a shop, tell them I want an 8 second F1X car that is street able. Than go buy the best c6z I can get and bring it to the same shop and make it an all motor car, than a house or two, than a koneisegg and a yacht.
Than the next day I'd go buy a lot more toys

the_fast_one 01-04-2016 10:22 PM

First thing I would buy is a financial advisor. That way I have somebody telling me how stupid my P1 and Aventador purchase is. Then I'd hit Barrett Jackson to bid and over pay for some muscles cars and stock my 40x120 Morton building with cool cars.

Stormcloak 01-04-2016 10:31 PM

I've thought a lot about this in the past.

The first step is to aside enough so that no matter what happens, I don't ever ever have to work again. Then help out family members and friends. Then start working on building our dream home.

Back to the vehicle acquisitions. In no particular order:

Early 70's Volvo P1800ES wagon
Late 90's Ducati 916 SPS
Singer Porsche 911
I'd probably turn my current 1LE into a ridiculous track / street hybrid (gutted, full cage, built LS7, etc)
All season daily driver: VW Golf R
Some random pickup truck used for everything else would round out the stable

oldfriend 01-04-2016 10:39 PM

1 Attachment(s)
I would by all the parts a need to assemble two like this one

The current 400 million jackpot has a cash value of 244 million before taxes, so anyone winning this is probably looking at around .. 160 million? (unless I'm reading this wrong).

Still a shitload of money, but I'm not sure having a million dollar car as a DD is something I'd consider at that rate.
