Will the GTO be returning along side the Camaro?

Not sure if I believe this or not....but I figured that I'd throw it out there for you all to check it out. |

Idk how they have heard this and we havnt? Am I missing something? |
Not sure, that's why I put it up. Figured that someone on here may have heard something about it.:iono:

I don't trust that article...maybe the GTO is coming back...
but a "...full on 362 horsepower LS2 6.0 liter V8, the same engines that are available in the Pontiac G8." Lots of problems with this statement... 1: how can 362hp be "full on" If the last GTO model had 400? :bonk: 2: No LS2 was ever 362 hp 3: The LS2 is dead, so why put a virtually non-existant engine into a new car? 4: The imaginary LS2 6.0 liter V8 is NOT in the G8...based on the facts above. |
Somewhere earlier it was said that the GTO wouldn't come back because they don't want to waste money building an inferior car to the camaro or if it's good enough to bring out competition. I can't remember what thread but I think a GM employee was quoted saying it wasn't happening. :iono:

I believe it. 99% (because it still could happen)
There are no other muscle cars that GM offers...that I know of. GTO was a flop - not entirely because of the car - and we know that Firebird is gone. I'd never consider a monte Carlo in the same league as Camaro... So, I think I can see what Lutz or whoever said that is thinking. This vehicle is going to have a tough enough time selling as it is. The market of Pony cars, or even coupes, is small. And 3 competitors is enough...add a fourth, and I can see trouble. |
you know if they had made the GTO LOOK like something other than a remolded g6, it might have sold better. when I first heard of the GTO making a comeback, I imagined the look of the old school gto's and was hoping that Pontiac would do a retro look to it. (like the camaro for instance) as compared to taking an Australian car and putting a G6 front fascia on it. if they do re-release the gto...again, they need to make it look aggressive.
as far as a 362hp 6.0L being "full on" they might have refered to the 6.0L truck engine LS2. dunno for sure, just my $0.02 |
maybe, yeah - that's a good explanation...but that's still off - 362 in a newer car of a verison that had 400... Sombody needs to do their research better over there...
:iono: I don't really know what to think, yet...but for kicks (and I want to use this word/name:p)...I'm guessing it'll be a GT-No. |
I see another GTO in the future for Pontiac. Not soon. But...I feel one will be built.

Occasionally, GM makes weird or ugly vehicles. Take the Chevy Citation for example. Or the Aztec, what was that all about?! (Horrible, I can go down the list.) But looks are what's going to sell any new GTO. |
Since i am still a GTO fan i figured i would make a comment. I have read a ton of times about the LOOK of the GTO and how it looks like this or that. If someone is basing that opinion on just seeing pics then they really should see one in person. When i first saw one in pics i thought it was kinda ehh. But then at the Goodguys car show here in Nashville they had two GTO's running dyno's and after that i was hooked. I think with the GTO is was more of a "total package" kinda thing. They are quick as hell and the interior on them can't be beat by any other car. I for one hope the GTO does make a comeback but i think Dragoneye has a good point on their being a 4th pony car. I do think that might be one to many in the mix of things. And i have always said if the Camaro comes out and it doesn't hold up to my expectations then it's a GTO for me. ESPECIALLY if they don't make them anymore cause then you will have something rare and more valuable later down the road.

just noticed something in that article...the car at the top of the page is badass looking. Anybody know what that is?
