Boost Gauge is First Evidence of a Supercharged C7 Corvette?

2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Supercharger Boost Gauge Spotted!

A picture, it’s said, is worth a thousand words. And while that may or may not actually be true, the image you see here is certainly worth at least three: Supercharged C7 Corvette.

Captured during a photo shoot of the new 2014 Stingray convertible before its Geneva debut, it was only when we got back to the office that we noticed the PSI gauge in the instrument cluster of our subject Vette. Located directly to the left of the tachometer in the Vette’s programmable thin-film transistor (TFT) display, it includes the telltale icon of two interlocking rotor vanes. (Another view showed us that the gauge can live to the right of the tach, too—score one for programmability.) What’s more, it appears to depict the twin four-lobe rotor setup as used in the previous C6 ZR-1’s supercharged LS9 V-8 engine. Known as a roots-type positive displacement supercharger, the familiar identifying graphic has made the transition from analog to digital display virtually unchanged.

It was also shown in the original instrument dash underneath the tach. Either way it sounds like FI is in the works, although with a digital dash it doesn't take much more than programming to add it, unlike analog where parts are built.

Sounds awesome though!

Now the real question, can the aftermarket take advantage of this on the Stingray?

As in, having access to that TFT gauge on your non-supercharged 2LT after you put an aftermarket blower on it?

Exciting!

well, "it was widely reported" that the LT1 was built with boost in mind :gossip:. Not that there was any doubt that a next-gen LS9 was in the works but nice to see more hints indicating YES. Stiffer chassis, better weight distribution, 3rd gen mag shocks and oh, BTW maybe up to 700 bhp hitting the ground? :high5: uh, yeah - life's good here in "post muscle car" era. Seriously, we get over 450 bhp AND 31 mpg in 2013?!? Oh, did I mention that's on pump 93 octane gas and the BASE corvette :drama:.

Yeah, life's pretty good...............

This, complete with cad drawing, was leaked some months ago. Take it for what its worth but the source has been generally very accurate:

Engine – LT4
2015 LT4 supercharged engine - 586hp - will be an upgrade of Camaro ZL1
I think it is called LT4 so you don't think it is from a C6.

I dont think it'll be an upgraded LSA engine, I think it'll be from the LT series. But just an opinion.

FenwickHockey65 03-09-2013 10:34 AM

Probably LT4.

2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible Features a Supercharger Boost Gauge

Sorry if this has already been posted..

We didn’t make it to the Geneva Motor Show this year, but we should be thankful that publications such as Car & Driver did, as they were able to discover something truly peculiar about the recently unveiled 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible at the Chevrolet booth. Just to the left of the C7 Convertible’s digital tachometer is the very recognizable icon of two interlocking rotor vanes. AKA, a twin-screw supercharger.
It’s very mysterious as to why the Stingray Convertible would feature a boost gauge, while the hard-top model has no such thing with its free-breathing LT1 V8. Chevrolet even confirmed that the new 2014 Corvette Convertible would cradle the same engine. So what gives? We’re a little stumped at the moment. Was it just for show? A possible bug in the digital readout?
We do know that there are supercharged C7 Corvettes currently undergoing testing, but allegedly for the Z06 and ZR1 supercars. But we’re going to have to do some deep digging to uncover this mystery. Continue to check back on GM Authority for more.

Just have to figure out which variant the LT4 will go into.
