GM engineer hints that new Camaro may be available within 12 months
Cruise Control Radio, the radio program dedicated to the car industry, in its September 25th episode, claims that they have witnessed a picture of the production version of the new Camaro. The program claims that they were shown the photo recently by Terry Woychowski (GM engineer) at a press event.
Cruise Control Radio claims that the picture they were shown looked "even better" than the concept Camaro. Here's the best part - the show claims that Terry Woychowski said that GM was in a "rush to get it [Camaro] out the door," and "don’t be surprised if it's by this time next year." :eyebulge: |
WOOT!!!!

this would mean they have a prototype of the new chassis. the camaro should look a little different from the show car since I read the show car was built on a cadillac CTS chassis. hopefully the production car used the new rear drive chassis.
if you think about it, they should be able to rob all the drivetrain components from existing GM cars, (which they of course did for the show car). They would still have to rework the Canada plant for this car. Wouldn't that take something like 2 years by itself? Nice to hear that a closer prototype release for the Car might exist. |
That's fantastic news if it's true.
The VE Commodores are on general sale in Australia, so those every reason to expect Chevrolet has got it's hands on the underpinnings already. Still, the proof is in the pudding, so I can't wait to see it. I'll start the rumours now......what chance the production version being shown at Detroit in January for a late '07 on sale date????? :p |
To the best of my knowledge, don't look for anything until late '08.
As for Detroit '07, my guess is there'll be a convertible Camaro on display. |
HOLY CRAP!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again...40th Anniversary Edition. Wouldn't that be something to have it come out just a little past the movie? I don't care if it takes until 09 to release it: as long as it is done RIGHT. Actually, it works out better for me financially if it takes just a little longer. But that is some great news!!!

Sounds too good to be true, but only time will tell as they say.

Personnally I think the fur will fly when the BIG 3 show their cars at next years SEMA show in 'vegas. This will be the first year that all three will be in the spot light at the same time. A production ready Camaro is not impossible. Especially with Ford having financial problems. Also present probably will be the Challenger, the 09 re-designed Mustang. SUV's are out and muscle cars are in. Believe it or not they get better gas mileage.

I believe it. GM is taking ALOT and I mean ALOT of heat recently for financial reasons. Of course the biggest push is for them to get some better products out there, and whats their one shining star right now? THe camaro. I bet they have all the manpower thats needed on this car right now to get it right and get it out to us. I do believe we will see it in full production ready form within 12 moths, guaranteed. And I mean within 12 months, so less then 12 months. wooohoo
|
I wouldn't say 12 months but less then 24 months. but the thing is I won't be able to get it until 2009 or 2010. so no mater what I'm sol until then.
|
I am still thinking late summer to fall of 07:iono:

yea. well if I deploy I'll be able to get it sooner. but lol a lot has to change for me to deploy between now and then. I hope it's out sooner honestly. maybe get some bugs worked out by the time I get mine.
|
all i wanna say is " I TOLD YOU SO" i posted that it would be out sooner than GM was telling us. and as far as detroit, MOOSE, why would they have the convertable atthe show when we haven even seen the concept"hardtop" in its production version yet? "your putting the trailer in fron of the horse" slow down a bit partner.
