Museum Deliveries, check in here!
As we quickly approach first delivery, I thought I'd share some info for those who have optioned for R8C Museum Delivery.
I've been talking with Lori Bieschke, who is the director for Museum Deliveries at NCM. I've asked her several hypothetical, but reasonable, questions regarding deliveries. First, they will generally be scheduled with the customer in a "first in, first out" order: those with lower VINs will get theirs before those with higher VINs. Second, the Museum will contact those with R8C as soon as they have release information from the plant. Third, should the plant begin to release cars for delivery prior to September 30, the Museum will start R8C deliveries right away, and will NOT wait for the 30th. Additionally, Lori stated that in that event, the R8C plant tours will also start prior to the 30th - you will get the plant tour when you pick up your car, assuming deliveries actually start prior to the 30th. I hope this clears a few things up for all you Museum Delivery folks. Also, I'd like everyone who has Museum Delivery to check in here with status, so we can all get a feel for where we're at in the overall scheme of things. My Z51 Cyber Gray coupe was built on August 29, VIN 0196. :happyanim:Who's in front of me? Hope to meet you soon! |
I did not opt for Mueseum delivery... Wish I did though!!

I opted for Museum Delivery and so looking forward to it. I ordered a Z-51 CRT coupe and am at 3400 but at last check no TPW or VIN.

Living on hopes and dreams
I ordered in May as soon as pricing came out with Museum Delivery:
1YX07 -Stingray Coupe w/Z51 3LT - Cyber Gray w/Kalahari MEP -7 Speed Manual Transmission FE4 - Magnetic Select Ride NPP - Dual Mode Performance Exhaust C2Z - Roof panel, 1-Piece Visible Fiber - Standard Z51 Silver Wheels - Microsuede upper cockpit trim See the entry to the left that says "Drives:" For me that should say "Hopes to Drive someday:" I have been at 3000 status forever. In fact Lori called back in July to ask what I wanted on my Console Museum Plaque. Now I'm probably stuck in the C2Z Carbon Fiber constraint. |
It would be nice if they started deliveries sooner than the 30th (my birthday is the 27th, I sure wouldn't mind delivery then :-)
My VY Z51 coupe was finished Tuesday Sept. 3. My VIN is later than yours, 302, so I'm behind you. |
WooooHooo!
Noticed a few have shipped, and a bunch are changing codes. I am still stuck at 3000 but hey, now that they are moving again it should not be long. I also opted for the Museum delivery and am really starting to get excited!!! Would love to be the first to break into the 10's after a few mods. |
Aaarrrgh! It looks like the first Museum deliveries are September 30th based on several posts elsewhere. I'm so bummed! My Corvette club, me included, start a week-long road trip to Tail of the Dragon on the 28th!! I had so hoped to have it in time for the trip, especially since it's been built for several weeks. :frusty:
And I have yet to get a call from the Museum. :frusty: |
They should have a fast track program for guys like you. Everyone who has museum delivery gets a option of a quick deliver option where the have the car brought over have a few pics and talks and drive away happy. 8 a day 40 a week will make many deliveries late into October. I made this suggestion on another forum and got blessed out for it. But you the customer should have another option to forgo what you paid and get the car now.

Thanks for the support, Lawdogg! I'd even be willing to delay the plant tour part of the package for a few weeks if that would help any. I have a couple of strings I'm pulling, just not sure that will help me any, but we'll see. Worst case, I schedule delivery for October 3rd or 4th. The club and I will be heading back through Bowling Green then, and it would be kind of cool to have a contingent of friends from the club to share the excitement in person. And my nephew would get to drive my '02 back to St. Louis, which I'm sure he'll enjoy!
I just can't think of a better way to break in a new Corvette than driving Tail of the Dragon and similar roads in the area! |
I ordered Museum Delivery too. My order just went through to 3000 - had been on hold since early July due to the CF Dash. Wanted the CF Roof - once the dash was released, the roof went on hold, so I switched to a painted roof (dual option) - I can get a CF roof as a part later.
Crystal Red Tint, light gray interior, 3LT, Z51, Chrome Wheels. I know I have to wait in line - learning patience. It will come eventually, then it will be a happy day. |
Check with your dealer as I understand transparent roof orders are being pulled to 3400 ahead of exposed and painted carbon fiber roof orders. Dealer have the option of changing the orders.
The transparent roof is $995. Don't know for sure but suspect there is a way to cover it for summer. Laborsmith |
I ordered RC8 too.
Last weekend I received an email from Shane Webb (Museum) for the plaque settings, I'm at 3000 as for yesterday. Hope it moves quickly. (RGWRM8, dealer-Kerbeck,NJ) I'm from Texas so just cant wait to drive my C7 back home on a unforgettable road trip. My B-day is Nov-2, hopefully Ill have it as my biggest and bad-ass Bday present ever. (It will be my last toy in a while I think since I just got married and planning to have babies next year...) .- A. White / Z-51 / LT2 |
Well, as of this afternoon, I still have not received a call from Lori or Shane to schedule my delivery. Apparently, Jack Cooper Transport is not shipping in the same sequence as they were built - mine is VIN 196, and VIN 602 is the silver Stingray already sitting in the Museum lobby (found this out from another forum from the soon-to-be owner directly)!
As can be imagined, I'm quite bummed by this! To be so close and yet so far! :frusty: I have a message in to CCS and the Museum, but so far no replies. And my dealer doesn't know where my Stingray is either - we looked for it for over an hour this afternoon. I suspect it's one of the bunch in Nashville. :frusty: If so, I can only hope whatever caused it to be sent there doesn't take long - it's supposed to be center stage in a charity Corvette display on Oct. 12th at my dealer! |
