I'm the man with the plan.

Me too, win the lottery, build giant house, underground garage and racetrack with a runway on it.

I'm also open to donations.

Sounds awesome though, its going to make a hard decision on what car to take in the morning.

I concede. The GT outruns everything.

'10 GT in Grabber Blue! As retro as it gets for the Mustang... would be cool if they brought back names/shades like Grabber Orange, Calypso Red, and even Wimbledon White.

You have to compare equal pricing to get the best bang for the buck. I'm afraid a Z06 will be priced way over the GT500. And of course it will beat the GT500. The current Z06 does that, however it's a close race if from a roll. The GT500 is even rated a little faster top speed too.

Sounds like a good plan to me!

The base C7 performs like the C6 Z06 according to the engineers at GM. The reason is the LT1 engine and the mew frame. You need to look passed the numbers. The LT1 is a direct injected 6.2L V8, producing ~450hp/450Lb. The numbers are way behind the gt500 lol, behind the Z06 as well. But the torque curve... All the power is available from the LT1 pretty low on the powerband. And it's direct injected, just a few bolt ons and the engine could produce well over 500 RWHP. I wouldn't be surprised to see a C7 with a intake and headers beat a current GT500 in the 1/4. And around a track? Forget about it lol. Might as well be racing against a bike.

I believe the engineers were referring to cornering in reference to the C7 performing like the C6 Z06. My conclusion is from the current data given that the GT500 will beat in 1/4 mile mph and top speed over the C7.The lbs/hp just isn't there with the current given numbers for the C7 to win in those areas.

I have no doubt with the information we have that the C7 will most likely corner better than the C6 Z06 or the GT500. The GT500 being the looser to both.

My reference is stock, not with bolt ons. I'm sure it's quite likely the C7 with bolt ons will out perform both in their stock condition assuming the new C7 ECM can be cracked to allow for tuning.

^ I also lean to that... on the drag strip, stock vs. stock the '13 GT500 is beast and will likely edge out a LT1 C7 especially if the Shelby launches well... but on a circuit/road course, the C7 may finish :first:

I've owned 5 mustangs over the years, would have been 6 but this new one is just too dang ugly. If they could have cleaned up the rearend, it wouldn't be a bad looking car, but the @ss is fugly! Took the wife to get an '08 GT500 and she didn't like the clutch.

The stiffness?

Looks & Aesthetics... that's what sold me on the Camaro SS - from front to side to back; in & out.
Power & Engine... that's what sold me on the BOSS 302 - forged robust high-revving n/a Roadrunner motor.

Looks & Power + Handling & Amenities in a body a true sports car... this is what's selling me on the new revolutionized C7. :stingray:

A GT500 has plenty enough oomph to get from point to point real quick. :)
