GPS problems

Anyone had any problems with their GPS? Mine can't seem to stay connected, has the red x over gps 75% of the time with not a cloud insight. Will be taking it in, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Here's a crapy video of what mine does, had me driving in the middle of a lake yesterday :bonk:

The maps aren't very up to date.

I was headed to a car show a couple of weeks ago on a 4 lane highway that's been done for almost 10 years and mine had my car out in the middle of the cornfields beside it where the old highway used to be.

Does yours have a red x over the gps letters in the upper right hand corner?

Should we be getting a mount for our phone instead of NAV or GPS?

I picked up my 2015 C7 last week. It's doing the same thing, red X over the GPS and even though the map moves and rotates as I drive along, it's constantly showing my location about 60 miles from my actual location. I contacted my dealer and learned he has another new C7 scheduled to come in for the exact same problem next Monday. My dealer suggested I hold off bringing my C7 in until they can troubleshoot this other C7 to find out what the issue is, and suggested I check back with him next Wednesday. When I get more information I'll post it.

Follow up - As my dealership's service center requested, I called them back today to find out what happened to a C7 that they had in their shop for the GPS Red X problem. Turns out they couldn't fix it. The service department contacted GM and learned GM is aware of some of the C7's having this Nav Red X issue and is working on a solution. GM thinks the problem might be related to interference from the XM antenna, but they don't have a solution to the problem yet. I was instructed to call back in 2 more weeks to see if GM has come up with a solution. I'll post an update in two weeks. Hang in there GPS Red X'ers... it sounds like we may eventually get a fix to this problem.

I just got back from taking the NCM and Factory Tour in Bowling Green. After the tour I pulled the tour guide to the side, told him about several C7 owners having this Red X problem with their GPS and asked if he could ask someone in the factory if they know about the Red X problem, and if so, is there anything in writing concerning the fix (I was hoping to take something back to my dealership's service department).

The tour guide disappeared into the factory and I waited in the lobby. About 20 minutes later the guide returned and said they factory has been aware of the GPS Red X problem for about a month, and there's an issue with the XM Antenna interfering with the GPS antenna, but said there's currently nothing in writing about the fix. It was suggested I take my C7 to my dealer... ugh. And of course when I talk to my service department they tell me they're waiting on a fix from the factory. Hopefully start hearing more success (repairs) on this issue soon.

As one who is going to buy a C7 soon, I'm watching this closely and hoping to hear about a resolution that makes sense. I'm a life long radio technician (both in the military and civilian sectors). Since GPS and XM are both receive only, there should be nothing about the antennas or their transmission lines that could cause this. A bad receiver connected to the XM that is leaking back out and interfering with the GPS could conceivably cause it. Anyway, ask lots of questions when you get an "answer" from the dealer to make sure they have fixed something substantive. Just my two cents...

I took my 2015 Z51 in today for its 1st oil change and to have the Nav (Red X issue) fixed. Prior to today my Nav system showed a constant Red X, but I'm very happy to report the tech at Hendrick in Cary NC did a great job of getting my Nav working great. And I was pleasantly surprised to see the upcoming turn data also pops up on the HUD. I also had the differential fluid level checked (it was fine), and the Emergency Brake Recall done. It took 3 hours to get everything done. I drove it all afternoon, had a ball, and never saw the Red X once. Life is good.

SR-71, do you know what they did to fix the red X?:thanks:
