spinning to 7k

Greetings,
Say I wanted to spin to 7k with an aggressive cam lobe. I'm pretty sure I would need new rockers but could a hydro roller lifter make it or would I have to go solid roller?

TIA for your input.
Robert.

I have a VVT setup spinning to 7200rpms
Solid rollers are damn near 7500rpms

I'm a little confused, your VVT uses solid? Sorry I'm new to this stuff.

No not yet, I'm going to do the switch to a VVT low lash solid roller

Hydraulic roller here with stock rockers and lifters (for now anyway)

No issues with +7,000 RPM

If I remember correctly , reving past the point where higest torque and horsepower intersect is pointless. This rpm will vary depending on your mods. But I'm just an old man with a fuzzy memory .

Our G6X3 cam package can spin to 7100-7200 but it really needs a better intake to do that well at that high of an RPM like the Holley high rise. Just wasting time really above 7000 on the stock intake

What about a FAST 102? That Holley isn't practical for the vast majority of users.

Fast 102 still peaks out early.

We have setups shifting in the 7200 range on hyd cams, ls3/7 lifters and stock rockers.

We have solid rollers going 7500. Both on our modified stock intake manifold.

doesn't the torque and horsepower always intersect at 5252 rpm, being that hp is a calculated number from torque and rpm?

How much of a difference using your modded intake?

Also, what differences are you seeing at the strip between the VVT LLSR cam vs the 3-bolt LLSR cam w/3600 stall? Kip seemed hesitant about running the VVT LLSR cam and recommended going with the 3-bolt set-up. :)

Rhino79 08-30-2015 09:29 PM

VVT is still an advantage in street strip setups.

Where it becomes no benefit is when you have converter flashing 5000 plus rpm

Also the VVT cores aren't really designed for 700 plus valve lift.
