BAD NEWS REGARDING 2024 CAMARO PRODUCTION

Well, this is not what any of us wanted to hear. I'm sorry to have be the one to post this.

I just received the updated 2024 build-out dates and it's not good.

Camaro Coupe - 12/7/2023
Camaro Convertible - 11/22/2023

The final week to order a Camaro coupe(if dealer has allocation) is 10/19/23. Convertible is 10/5/23

:pout:

I am glad mine is built and waiting to leave Lansing, MI soon hopefully. Car is sitting at Lansing Racer.

Kind of sad the the short production year is being cut even shorter.

Not looking good for my 2SS 1LE in Riptide Blue. Hopefully my Dealer gets an allocation in the next 3 weeks.

I put my order in for a 3LT last weekend, so if I'm reading this right and if I don't have a confirmation by 10/19 I'll have to settle for what ever I can find and get delivered, right?

I feel smarter now (doesn’t happen very often! :bonk:) for cancelling my 2024 order and finding a comparable 2023. Time for you guys to hit the Camaro Inventory at chevy.com…

Correct.

What happens to the workers?

It's as I suspected. General Motors couldn't care less about the Camaro. They made a limited run of collectors editions in order to drum up a little bit of positive buzz in the automotive press, then they discard it for their EV obsession. Surrendering the market to Ford once again (like when they discontinued the B-platform and gave Crown Vic, et. al. the entire market).

They've been a foolishly run organization for a very long time, with a brief respite in the early 2000's when they put an actual car guy in charge (we can thank him for getting the camaro back into production after its several year discontinuation).

As for me, I continue to remember that I'm the one trying to do GM a favor here, not the other way around. If they dont want the equivalent of the median yearly income from me, I can certainly find some other, better run company who will take it. General Motors is not the only game in town for those of us who want a front engine, rwd, V8 powered car with a manual transmission.

They will build the CT5 and then whatever EV they decide to build at that plant. I'm sure some of them will get laid off or transferred.

Not that I would have been able to buy one, but I guess this means the “Garage 56” variant won’t happen either?

Unless they are planning to build all of them before 12-7. I'm betting they will still build it.
