No more rear bowtie

Real easy, let the tail of the car sit in the sun for a while, get a small (sharp) plastic putty knife and a bit of rubbing compound for the remaining adhesive and poof - no more bowtie.

Looks clean. Are you planning on leaving at like that or put something else?

Forget the putty knife. Use 20 lb monofiliment fishing line. (Less of a chance damaging the paint.)

Do the earlier models have two posts in the back?

Yes...:sad0147::frusty:

Oh well, now I have a painted bowtie.

I'm proud of my bowties.

Removal/replacement of the front Bowtie can look really good. But for some reason I don't like when the rear is removed. It looks like it is missing something.

Thought so :mad: that is why I never attempted to remove mine.

My 2011 IBM was made in June 2010 no holes.

any 2014-2015's with this removed? I been debating doing this myself. I actually plasti-dipped mine last weekend white(body color) to kinda give me a idea of what it would look like with it removed......Im liking it

I'm debating about putting a 3" blue line between the tails where the bowtie was,, kind of like those black decals that people put on the back of the car to symbolize the 'Thin Blue Line.'

This was a very thin, very sharp plastic putty knife. I only had to 'cut' about 1/2 way then the rest pulled right off, leaving no residue of any kind. It only took a minute or too with my rotary buffer and some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and all the scratches that were too close to the bowtie to polish out and any glue residue was gone.

I too used fishing line. Then a bit of solvent to get the residual goo off. Then compound, then polish, then washed and sealed. At first you could see a bit of an outline, but that has since faded, and it looks smooth as ever now like nothing was ever there.

Agreed.

I had mine off the rear for a while but there was nothing to close the trunk by except the spoiler, leaving fingerprints. So I would have to grab a microfiber from the trunk and close it with that. Ended up putting one back on but had the insert painted CF.
