I go to sleep around 3:00-3:30 am every night, unless I'm on a rig... just the way I've always been. I usually sleep about six hours..

Yes I can - Not as good as I used to be and the falls hurt a lot more - LOL!

I can still barefoot as well.

Sold my MasterCraft last year because my kids don’t enjoy going to the lake as much and the X1 sat in the garage.

No naps yet but definitely getting used to the retired status & getting into a new rhythm.

Happy Friday gang!

Might do some car stuff this weekend. Still monsoon season here, so you never know when a thunderstorm or haboob will roll into the area.

Good for you!!! Couple of years and I will be as well. We were gonna move to FL, but with all the Toxic Green Algae issues and stuff we are actually looking around Western NC and Tennessee, there's some great values down there. In TN, do they tax your pension benefits or have state income tax?

Thanks!!

No income tax. I only know about 401K here & since it is deposited before tax, it is taxed when withdrawn. Bummer. Cost of living here is pretty good but going up a lot in Nashville & some surrounding areas. But other areas (like Clarksville/Montgomery County) housing costs are quite low. Not a bad area to retire to.

Damn I know the falls hurt more is the truth... if and when I ever go again, I’m driving and / or staying in the boat...

I’ve had one hell of a weekend...

So... we (the bride) decided she wanted a new bed... I encouraged her to find what she wanted... she did...

I’m afraid to ask the final tally, but it arrived in 15 box’s / crates...

It was decided that we would sell our dresser, both end tables, and an armoir from hell... that thing is huge... but we have 10 plus foot vaulted ceilings in our master, so it fit... but it’s going away...

The new bed has 12 drawers on the sides, and four at the foot of the bed...

So it was also decided we would change from the dark brooding (relaxing) color of the room as well... so... we chose some very light greenish, sea foam looking color, and my only stipulation was we were buying the best level/ grade/ quality of paint they offered, as I wasn’t going to be chasing the bleed through color forever... I wanted one coat coverage... I used Kilz on the dark red accent wall and the paint covered the browns of the other walls... and the ceiling... this equated to about 250 for a 5 galling bucket... and I used my airless sprayers, one tyvek suit, one respirator and two pairs of glasses covers.... (this is a low VOC paint but it’s paint, it has an odor... twenty minutes into me starting to spray and I hear this, “babe, the paint smell is all over the house...”. Yup, it’s 104 outside and A/C systems move air...)

I admit I’m very happy with the color, (now that it’s applied) and I’m liking where the bed is going, though I have driven somewhere around 4000 screws to this point assembling the thing... did I mention it arrived via fed ex in 15 box’s...

Holy crap on a cracker... there are a metric crap ton of pieces, drawers everywhere and all kinds of stuff. My only real complaint is the instructions... well written... too well written... this company has been in operation for 70 years according to the web site...

copy and paste...

I know the bed has options, but holy crap, please give me instructions specifically for my bed, 12 drawer platform with this mattress set... I don’t care about the 6 drawers option or the 18 drawer option.

I’m using your stuff entirely... I’m not using my own headboard so I don’t need to skip to step 6B unless I have the 18 drawer option in which case I skip 6 and repeat 1-5 for carton 1 the third time...

I could go to their manufacturing place in Michigan and in a week, completely fix their instructions.

Excel spread sheet with options tabs...

Fill in the little options buttons and abracadabra, print, instructions explicitly for your bed, without the tail chase of 47 other options...

Room is painted, trim back up, base is built, more tomorrow... holy crap...

Hell yeah... 1500 feet and 137 is getting it, on a non prepped track... awesome...

Here is the project I’m working on, and yes the Mastiff puppies are lots of “help.”
We are to the point of building the platform... I’ll be up for a while.. my bride is going to get dinner... I’m to continue work... I snuck on here while she is feeding the pups... Shadrach is a male, the bigger one, at about 150 lbs at 8.5 months, and Abbie is a very thick solid female running over 90 lbs at 4.5 months.. she won’t be as tall but she’ll be thicker and heavier than him... he is predicted to go 225 lbs and she may go 250ish. Based on their parents...

That is quite a project. You would be a handy guy to have around! Nice doggies both of you.

As for me, I am gettingeady to embark on a big change. We had been gathering bids on getting some renovations done on the 30+ year old house where we live. Some were much needed safety related issues but most just really old, worn & outdated stuff needing to be replaced, painted, repaired, etc. It was proving to be way more expensive than we had hoped & really hard to live through and stay in the house. So we looked once again for a house to buy just to be sure we wanted to renovate instead of move. We had looked for homes off & on forever & have never seen one that checked off the boxes of what we wanted that we could come anywhere near to affording. Well this time we found one that did meet the criteria. Went to see it yesterday & fell in love. Looking positive like we might just go for it. Next few days we will see if it all works out.

lol, I love those names... Satchmo, our previous Mastiff was named for Louis Armstrong, he of the big black cheeks. Shadrach and Abbie, (Abednego) are both biblical names. Two of three thrown in the furnace. We had decided to wait on a dog, until my situation came about. We got Shadrach shortly after I got out of the hospital and he was very instrumental in my recovery. Even as a puppy he understood I was still sick. I have a severe neuropathy in my left hand, and to this day he won’t touch it when we play. My poor right hand and arm have been trashed and mauled, as puppies do, and sometimes I bled a LOT due to my blood thinners but to date, he still won’t bother my left hand... Abbie, we got her so Shad would have a companion. She doesn’t give a shit about my hand, it’s all fair game to her... She has become the lovey one though and Shad has bonded strongly with his mother, as male mastiffs are known to do... he and I still have a bond... when I’m not home he sits in my recliner... both are Champion blood line dogs, but we won’t be breeding them. They are our children and neither of us is ready for welping... maybe if we were retired... but no...

For the record, I’m a solid rum drinker... can’t wait for the doc to clear me... I haven’t had a drop since Halloween last year... When I’m released, my wife and I are going back to Jamaica for ten days to two weeks... oh yeah...

i hope it does work out for you... my wife and I look often, both online and in person... weekend sojourns... All are relatively in the area we live though we look closer to both our parents places... if the right house comes along, we’ll jump... until then, we really love where we live...
