I wonder how long before all those old American cars in Cuba make their way to the US?

Went out and got some pictures today, here's a distance one of her car.

Trick That looks like a great trip!

Congratulations Janice you have earned it. I am one of the fortune ones in that my wife gets a pension. Right now the NYS pension she gets is very well funded and stable. We also have been able to save a decent amount in 401k plans since we never had children. That is why we are aiming for an early one i will be 60 and she will be 55. Now I just need to stay the course for 5 more years. Trick I love those Cuba pictures looks like a beautiful country.

Jan — what a great retirement party. That cake is neat. Even had some camaros on it. Racing to retirement is a nice touch for you.

Trick — what a great trip. The old cars are funny to see. Wonder about parts for them ??

Everyone have a safe holiday !!

RubyCamaro 05-29-2018 09:25 AM

Lookin' good Spike!

BLU DUCE 05-29-2018 09:58 AM

Trick great pics from Cuba. I watched what they did for car parts on Velocity unbelievable what they do making parts that don't even belong on their model work. Took the camaro to a BOCES Tech School a week ago 80 miles to the show rained all the way & all day up until an hour before the trophies. I took home a special award for outstanding late model.
There are no classes and the kids at the school pic out the winning cars. Plus they make all theeir own trophies.

Cuba is definitely a step back in time. Since they haven't been able to trade with the United States our tour guide told us they fabricate all the parts. He also told us that a lot of the cars have been re-powered with diesel engines. Not converting a gas engine to diesel but actually replacing the gas engine with a diesel engine.

Cuban cigars are expensive!!! 15 Cohiba cigars were $175 at a Cuban state store. I bought them for my friends. I hope they ENJOY them!!!

John

john , they described it as a difficult track , with lots of turns , several elevations....... I think it is a great learning track as soon as you get some speed up your turning again ... they are very strict on safety ,there were some tire squealing moments ..the trick is learning where you should be entering turn and where you should be exiting .....it was fun , you can sign up for more training there using their cars SS !LE . V caddy , and Z06

RubyCamaro 06-13-2018 11:27 AM

Looks like great fun Richard.

Well I have already enjoyed mine for the last 14 yrs.:facepalm:And no I'm not 84 yrs old. I just got all my crap together and set myself up to retire at the ripe old age of 59.:word:

All I need now is some cheap shoe laces from Dollar General & a kit of bicycle tire patches for my winter boots.

Another step closer to getting the IROC-Z back on the road. All new stainless steel braided brake lines installed. My son and I worked on the IROC-Z this weekend and then loaded it up to take to my local Chevrolet dealer. The issue that I'm having now is the linkage goes into drive but then it won't go.....So it's at the Chevrolet dealer to fix the transmission issue and an alignment.

I beat a Vette! He barely passed me at the line but he red lighted so either way you look at it, I won. I had my best reaction time that run. I red lighted the next round though & was out but it was great fun. I was trying to learn to use my new inside the car GoPro mount. First time I forgot to turn it on, the second time & this one, I forgot to turn it off. Just too much to think about.
