Reversing key recall - will these roll pins work?
 

Im looking to reverse the key recall in order to get my switchblade key back. I just ordered two blank keys which fit the switchblade fob, and I'm looking to order the roll pins now.

I found these on eBay, will they fit?

They should fit through the hole but they'd be a little bit too long, you'd have to trim it for the key to close properly. If you're buying them off the internet, you might as well get the correct size. 1/16 x 5/16.

Isn't there more to it than just affixing the blade back on the mount?

Not really..., I cut my old keys out of the plastic and stuck it in the old slots. I found two nails the size of the pin hole and trimmed them down to fit. Did both my keys in less than 30 minutes.

So there's no chip in the 'classic' key?

I just took a hammer and busted mine up. Super glued it back into my fob!

Nope and I used a chisel to get mine out. 4 wacks with a hammer on all sides. I just held the key tight against the blade of the chisel and all done. :-)

There is chips in all the keys, the recall version and the switchblade version. But usually nothing is required to get the old switchblade style working since the switchblade was used originally, the car should still have that chip in it's memory.
