1968 or 1969 vs 2008 or 2009
I have been wanting a camaro '68 since i was a teenager. I suppose the urge for a '68 is due to the fact that it was the year i was born. It speaks to my heart.
Now there's talk of a 2008 coming out. This in turns means a lot of things: For one, we won't have to wait 2 years for it to come out - woot! Second, it will be 40 year anniversary for the '68 version - woot! Third, i will be 40 years old - nice birthday gift if i say so - woot! fourth? there is no fourth, none needed - the first three reasons are good enough - woot! woot! How bout everyone else. Do you care when it comes out? if so, why? |
Personally, while I'm very excited about a new Camaro coming out, it really doesn't matter when. I'm just happy that IT IS coming back!!! :drinking:

i like the fact that its coming out but i wish they would have waited till spring or transformers premier to say its officially coming back. I still think this lul will kill it. |
I think they should have either waited until transformers to debut its comeback, or they should just release the final version now and begin orders in 07 to be released in 1st quarter of 08. There's too much time in between the announcement and the supposed date of release. Will it kill it? IMO for a very small #, yes. But, for the majority, no. The best part about this is information is being released at intervals keeping the public craving for more. This keeps it alive for those who actually read the forums. This huge gap in time (announcement to production) will NOT affect my decision on purchasing the new Camaro. I'm not one to lose interest in what will be a part of history.
To answer your question about if I care when it comes out... Yes, I care. Personally because I want one now. BUT... I would much rather wait 2 years to know what I will be buying is built right and with the best options, etc available. Take your time GM and do it RIGHT! |
i agree Tag,
the end of 2007 would be a good move. hey, there's an electric car which is due to come out 2007: the tesla roadster may stomp sales for the Camaro and pretty much any other vehicle on the market at the time. May be a little pricey which will work in competitions favor (est. $80k): http://techepics.com/files/tesla_1.jpg http://techepics.com/files/tesla_7777.jpg Tesla Roadster Video |
That looks like a Lotus. At an estimated 80K, I don't see that having an impact on the Camaro sales. If someone wants to spend that kind of cash, I'd compare an impact on the hard to get Z06. That's a 50K difference. The majority of folks intrested in buying the Camaro already have a set price range of 20K to 35K. The competitors will have the edge like you said.

i would love that car

I agree tag, I love that car though. Just the thought of an all electric vehicle is great and all, but how bout the rumble of the dual exhaust. Still a pretty car though. But sure wont be affecting my purchase of the Camaro, but short of death nothing could.

I think I read an article about that car. It is pretty amazing. It is full-electric, unlike current hybrids and it goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds..... that's what i'm talking about!

That Tesla is a sweet little ride. ;)
But for $80K, if I had it, I'd look at a C6 ZO6. I'm a "Chevy man", I love the looks of the ZO6, and that sound....WHOOOOFFF!!! Now back to reality....My one track mind is zeroed in on a new 5th Gen. :) |
but there is no 08/09 camaro...
