Guesses on Cost of Z51 Package?

Anyone have any guesses on what the Z51 Package will cost? They're giving you a lot of extra stuff but I'm hoping they keep it reasonable, if so then I might consider getting it. Obviously this is all speculation and we'll probably find out in a couple weeks but I'd like to atleast have an idea. I mean are we talking 1500-2k, 2-3k, 3-4k, 4-5k or even more? :yikes:

My guess would be the Stingray will be 53,000 the Z51 add 6,500 - 7,500. The 3LT around another 8-10k.

If that's the case I'm just going to buy anything extra that I want aftermarket. I hope they let you upgrade your wheels without buying the entire package, if so then I might just do that.

In my opinion, from a performance point of view, if it is in your budget buy it you won't regret it.

If not, and including myself on this, most drivers would never even come close to exceeding the limits of the base car. I had a C5 and drove what I thought was the crap out of it until I took it to Gingerman Race Track and drove with an instructor who helped me get to another level. This level was still below what I believe the car was capable of. The only upgrades I did after the track experience was a harness bar and 5-point harness from Simpson and would have eventually replaced the seats if I had kept it.:mad2:

From an appearance perspective upgrades after the purchase from after market is probably more economical.

One thing I remember from one of the Tadge Juechter videos is that he said the warranty covered the car regardless if it was on track or on the street IF THE CAR REMAINED AS IS FROM THE FACTORY (less normal wear and tear items brakes/tires etc..) iIwould verify this with Chevy prior to doing any mods if maintaining the warranty is of value to you.

My guess is at least $5K for the Z51 package. I'm only interested in drag racing so most of the items it offers I don't need or want. Sure don't want the larger wheels/tires. That could only add weight. Don't need the cooling, dry sump or larger front rotor for drag racing. That larger front rotor would make fitting a skinny that much harder. What I would need is a lower gear offering for the automatic tranny.

Not sure what the electronic controlled differential does for us vs. a standard limited differential but I would think again only for ring type racing.

I'll stick with the base and go from there to build the car I want.

After you modify would you please post a photo? Love to see a C7 with a skinny.

Don't know yet if I will even buy a C7. We don't know price, hp, weight or gearing. But yes, I would like to see one set up for drag racing too!

My guesstimate: 4-5K for a Z51 option. :stingray:

It is my understanding from a very good source that I am going to pay "around $66,000-$68,000" for my 3LT with the Z51 package.

Cool...my estimation was going to be in the $70k range for what I wanted...going to be even sooner now that some finances are coming together. 4th toy in the collection

Glad to be wrong on the Z51 as the 2,800 makes it close to a no brainer.

FenwickHockey65 05-02-2013 01:00 PM

$2800 is indeed pretty affordable.

ec1990 05-02-2013 01:15 PM

And it's an option that's impossible to replicate for that price.

Nate GM 05-02-2013 01:15 PM

I'm kinda surprised that it's cheaper to upgrade to a Z51 than a 2LT.
