Having had the honor of owning a ZL1 and now a C7 Z51, it's a toss up as to which car is better cuz it all depends on what you're into.
Both are amazing and very capable machines. Both go from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. Both have a top speed of 185+ mph right off the showroom floor. Both have great handling with the magnetic ride. It boils down to this... Do you like a 4200 lb brick with 580 hp that gets 19 mpg and looks p***ed off just sitting still or a 3200 lb refined lazer with 460 hp that gets 30+ mpg and is elegant but deadly? :iono: I LOVED both cars, but now only own a C7 Z51. IMO the C7 made my $61k ZL1 look and feel like a cheap, plastic toy. Don't get me wrong, I still love Camaro's and as soon as I hit the lottery I'll have all kinds of them and Vettes in my stable. |

The two will be close from the start but once the Zl1s SC gets to kickin in it will pull on the base C7 due to its higher boost. I guess it depends on what speed or distance you will go to during the race. Im pretty sure the Zl1 will best a base C7 in a 1/2 mile or more. Now SC vs SC the Z06 C7 will win for sure.

I don't know what to say lot of things are in stake. But here for example the C7 stingray smoked this ZL1 :D

From the ones that we know, best performance:
C7 Corvette Z06 w/. Z07 package 6th. Gen Camaro ZL1 C7 Corvette Grand Sport w/. Z07 package Corvette Stingray Z51 6th. Gen Camaro SS 1LE 5th. Gen Camaro Z28 5th. Gen Camaro ZL1 6th. Gen Camaro SS 5th. Gen Camaro 1LE |
Now that I owned first a 5th gen Camaro ZL1 and now a Corvette Stingray Z51, both of them '14 and both with the A6 automatic transmission, I think that I can give a better opinion.
-Both look great, the ZL1 has that mean, menacing and intimidating Muscle car look, but the C7 Stingray looks amazing, almost makes you feel like you are driving an exotic low driving position with the jet cockpit style interior. -Driving feeling. The ZL1 feels strong and heavy tank style with a very strong engine, you feel very secure while driving it, specially with the BG Goodrich all season tires which are great in all kind of weather. The Stingray feels almost as fast as the ZL1 without the S.C. Engine because it is very light. A 90 degree curve that I take at speed, I toke it very confident with the ZL1 with strong grip but on the Stingray, it felt very lose and unsettled on the back, in Sport mode the T.C. quicked in immediately. Probably the wider tires of the ZL1 helps it better. Both cars are keepers but the C7 Stingray would feel like it is the best option. EXCEPT! If you are planning to track your Stingray, Forget about it, the automatic Stingray even in Z51 option would overheat the transmission severely and continuously making you look bad with unfinished track time, it's a big shame because the A6 transmission shift greatly in full automatic or while using paddle shifting. The easy solution is an upgrade of the transmission cooler but you will lose your power train warranty. If you like to track instead get a manual transmission Stingray Z51, and still there are some complaints of missed shifts of the 7 speed transmission, probably the Camaro's 6 speed manual transmission is more precise than the C7's. Decisions, decisions, decisions!:fear::iono::doh::behindsofa: |
