New GMHTP Article

Article from Rick Jensen. I like his points, but must add that I don't want that redesign of the rear end and roofline. I'm 6'03". I like low rooflines. If I can fit in it, I don't want it changed.
And pick up a copy if you don't already subscribe. GMHTP has some great stuff. |

I agree on some things but I don't on the roof line (I like the sleek look and is just right for tall people ) also if you are buying a camaro for trunk space then you are probably not a real camaro person (If gm wants to appeal to the majority ,fine but don't build it for the preppy metro-homo types that think about fring drapes and fashion magazines.) A camaro is built for the muscle car-sport car lover and likes to see the ol'e blood pumpin in the veins when you rip tires away as onlookers say DAAAAAAAAMMMMMMNNNNN.
I am not rich or preppy or metrosexual or even proper for that matter , I just love powerful cars and the feeling I get when I drive something that makes me feel free and badass.(in other words redblooded american born .) |
BE CARFUL WITH STYLING TWEAKS.
Keep it like it is period… The roof line is perfect and there is nothing wrong with the rear end. The only thing I see that need some tweaking is the front grill material (insert) RS, Z28, SS, ZL1, ect. IT MUST BE COMPLETELY USER FRIENDLY. DAH, but I tend to be more of a “knuckledragger” DON’T LET MARKET TIMING RUSH THE FINISHED PRODUCT. This is a must, but there are a lot of impatient Camaro fans chewing their fingernails off. Furthermore, I totally agree that this Camaro like the 67 to 69 will sale no mater how far into the future it is released… As for the whole retro muscle car fad as some would tag it, that’s not what is happening with these cars. Ok, ok, “The Big Three” are taking some styling ques of the past, some more than others, but the whole retro styling is not causing this excitement. The excitement is a result of “The Big Three” finally designing and building cars that get are blood pumping, cars with style and personality, not just a wedge with wheels that gets 30 mpg. I think Carroll Shelby stated it the best, “ Someone stopped letting the Bean Counter build the cars”. Honestly ask yourself this question, when was the last time any car company released a car in the past 30+ years that would make you sale the rights to your first born in order to own one? Or, how many time have you said to yourself , “god I wish I was 25 and it was 1969 all over again”. Well guess what it is, sit back and enjoy it… GIVE THIS MUSCLECAR A MUSCLECAR DRIVETRAIN. I have never owned a car with IRS I am looking forward to this Camaro having it. As for my fellow drag races I say this, The Z06 has IRS with 505 hp and can run a 11 second ¼ off the showroom floor. I am sure GM is going to find a way to beef the IRS ( Fingers Crossed) up to withstand any engine/tranny combination they shoehorn in to it. PRICE IT RIGHT. 25K base 300+ HP V8 and there be long lines at the dealer… |
Super cool article Doug :sm0:
Looking at these old threads cracks me up... |
And the fact that there were only 4 replies (until now) astounds me...
