Anyone else considering trading their ZL1?
It's really is an amazing car. It has an awesome ride, handles very well, shifting is very clean and precise, very comfortable seats, plenty of leg room, welcoming interior that's not overdone, and has just enough technology without going overboard. I'm enjoying the car even during the break-in period.
I've been reading some of the threads about owners considering trading their ZL1 for the new C7 Vette and I completely respect their decision to do so. Before my purchase, I looked at every performance car out that was priced up to 75K (including the C7 Z51 Stingray) and while I thought the new C7 Stingray was/is a great car, I can't fit in it. To those that are looking for something else, I hope you find the vehicle that meets your desires. :thumb: |
I cannot speak for the guys on here that have posted about trading.
But some of the ones I've met had a C5 Z06 and traded it somewhere along the way for a C6 Z06 and or a CTS-V and then a ZL1. Actually seriously more than one person has pretty much told me that. It seems that some of them are somewhat brand loyal to GM, but no necessarily Chevy or particularly the Camaro. So now there is something new and they want that. You might guess these guys have money. Honestly, just about everyone I've met shared with me that they never pay off their cars or pay cash for them. They get a call from their favorite dealer being told there is X new car on the lot and they should come look at it. And either they'll need to trade and put another little bit of cash down, or trade with no cash, and their payment will be the same or their payment will go up or whatever. I think that particular practice is ridiculous. But to directly answer your question. No, not trading. Hope I die owning this car. |

Hasn't even come close to being considered...

If it wasn't for guys like them trading it in for a new C7, I would'nt have a chance to get a deal on a Camaro ZL1 :smiling1:

No way !!!!

I need some of your traded ZL1 to trade up to! :) :thumb: |
Bought mine new in September, 2012. No intention to sell, trade or otherwise get rid of my beauty.
|
Could never see trading mine in or letting it go. Too many great memories and overall just enjoy having it. As much as i like vettes i prefer my camaros. I figure in a few more years ill add a exotic of some sort to the garage.
|
Still in the Honeymoon phase with my ZL but I can say that when I went at sat in a new Vette the biggest thing I noticed was the lack of room. I get the whole two seater thing but I felt really crammed in and while that's fine for a track day I'm not sure I could live with it in my DD. JMHO...
|
trading mine for a Vette wouldn't be a thought for me. the new C7s have been out now for a little while and they're already crawling around in several spots in my area. I have only seen one other ZL1 besides mine in my area since I bought it almost a year ago.
|
Mine will stay with me till the end!! Best car I have ever had!
|
I'm keeping mine. Even though the Z/28 my be badder on the track and limited in production, the ZL1 is faster and built for all around driving, drag strip and track.....can't do that with the Z/28. I think the ZL1 will be a more desirable car in years to come.
|
Keeping it. Besides, I'm too fat for a Corvette.
|
No immediate plans here, but I try not to use the word "Never" ...
|
I have seen four C7 Corvettes in my area over the past few months. Great looking car. But since I have owned my ZL1, since June 2012, I have yet to see another. So I will be holding on to mine.

That being said I love my car and enjoy driving it every day. If I was to sell it most likely would be to get something more practical. Right now there is no need so no plans to change. |
My ZL1 is with me for a while. Nothing out there now or on the horizon interests me other than the Z/28 and I would add one of those to the garage rather than trade my ZL1 for one.
|
If it behaves itself then I will not trade it. The ZL1 was a special opportunity for me, so I do not see myself trading it for another automobile.
|
I wanted a vette my whole life until I saw the ZL1 . I bought the 2014 with the Recaro seats almost 3 months ago and haven't stopped grining yet.
|
I'll let mine go easy. I lose interest in vehicles very quick.
|
I will not be selling or trading in mine. Keeping the 4th gen and now the ZL1 until they have to pry the keys from my hands.

I don't have any plans on getting rid of my ZL but life does happens. On a good note I do get a grin every time I hear her start up. ;) |
Keeping my.....Truth is....not gonna find another car with the same level for the price....
|
I wanted a 5th gen since the concept car came about, then I fell in love with ZL1 when I turned the ignition on at the dealership. It will always be mine.

My ZL1 has cast a spell over me and I'll never be able to sell this car or trade it in. I am Camaro-blooded and have had numerous fbodies over the years. This ZL1 is the most impressive car I've ever driven. It is an absolute dream to own and I can't say enough great things about it. I almost feel guilty for owning it. Permagrin all the way.:bellyroll:

I won’t be selling my Camaro anytime soon either so you aren’t the only one who will be keeping the car for a long period of time. I have never been brand loyal, I buy what I like; right now I own a Dodge, 2 Fords, and now the Chevy.
My only stipulation is that it has to be North American made; we have to keep as many jobs in Canada and the USA as possible. |
Will never trade it for a C7. I know that much.
|
if they designed child seats for the back hatch area of the C7 I would buy the new z06 in a heartbeat. 620hp 650lbs that thing is going to fly.
I don't see that paning out though so I am keeping mine. |
KEEPING MY 2013 VERT. PAID CASH THANKS TO A SETTLEMENT WITH UNCLE SAM ON MY VA. DISABILITY. HAVING TOO MUCH FUN HERE IN COLORADO ENJOYING THE TWISTERS AND THE DRAG STRIP!!
|
My wife said '' you have a new love in my life, but you can't sleep with it.'' I just reclined the seat and shut the door. It a keeper!

Not in the near future.
Maybe add another (coupe, auto). |
I was considering trading for a C7 but being 6'3" and 250 lbs entry and exiting is a PITA plus just sitting in the car is cramped.
I think the C7 is actually smaller than previous models. Doesn't GM know people in the U.S. are getting BIGGER not smaller?:noidea: |

Ditto.
This car restored my enthusiasm for GM. It's that good I drove a Porsche 911 GT3 a few days ago... Awesome awesome car. It made me miss my winter garaged ZL1 badly. |
My baby isn't going anywhere!
|
Definitely keeping this one. Always wanted a black camaro from before I was old enough to drive. In 91' I had a chance to buy a black 1LE Z28 and had to pass it up because a years insurance was almost the price of the car at my age then. When this one came along my wife made me buy it, after the QC hold and the waiting the car was built and bayed on my birthday in 2012. My wife said it was a sign I had to have it lol!!!
|
wow spookygunner, you paid cash 60K for your new car? wow. good for you and enjoy that car. I know if i was able to own a ZL1, i would never get rid of it.
