fly a Hellcat but
drive the Super Hurcules, huh?
I spent 21 years on active duty myself, the first half as a CH-46 F/D/E Crew Chief/NATOPS evaluator/Line Chief. My last assignment was assistant line chief and NATOPS Evaluator at HMX-1. Then I cross-trained to Tactical Computers (a ground MOS) and ended assigned to the EA-6B squadrons at Cherry point for the last half of my career. After I retired as a MSGT in '95 I worked at the flight and maintenance simulators for the KC-130 and AV-8B, occasionally helping out at the EA-6B sim, also at CPNC.
One thing I do remember about my helo days were the long hours keeping those planes in the air, especially while deployed all over the Pacific. The only guys that worked longer than us were the CH-53 guys, always having to mop up leaks and tweak things.
Good to see we have some other Devil Dogs here.
Semper Fi!
